Megacities (>10 million inhabitants) and large cities with rapid urbanization and industrial development can generate some serious concerns in waterbodies. In India, there are many urban river systems supplying portable water to bountiful; in the recent decades, due to the industrial explosion/human overpopulation and aggravated water pollution, these hydro systems are in endangered situation including the impact on the ecosystem in those rivers.


Currently I am doing Ph.D with Collaboration of Anna University, Chennai, India and University of Francois – Rabelais, Tours, France. I have to Submitted my thesis title as “Upstream – Downstream Contamination Gradient of Fluvial Urban System in Chennai City” In this study an attempt will be made to ascertain the present status of the Adyar and Cooum river (study area) which are one of the important rivers in Chennai the capital city of Tamil Nadu, India. Which support many areas of Chennai for surface and underground water using water quality analysis methods. An intensive study will also be conducted to find out the impact of pollution in the waters sediments across the river stream using sedimentological characteristics, sampling and analysis will be done to establish the relationship between the pollution load and its impact on the river.


Before Joining Ph.D, I have also worked as an Assistant Professor in Department of Civil Engineering, College of Jay Shriram Group of Institutions, Tiruppur. And also, I have worked as an Assistant Professor in Department of Civil Engineering, College of VEL Tech University, Avadi, Chennai. Also, I have good knowledge in civil construction and designing.
